Jesus said “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
This is my mother, Jo Ann Gosnell. As long as I’ve known her, Mom has had a childlike spirit. Always ready to “go outside and play”, whether that meant skipping and dancing across parking lots, shutting down Six Flags, catching a burger and a movie, snow-skiing until our toes are numb, taking long drives in the mountains, going to football games (complete with tailgating), or just planting flowers on the back deck.
She also had a childlike (not childish) faith. Like all children, she feared the unknown. And as the years went by, there was a lot of unknown. But she took her fears to her heavenly Father, and trusted that He would care for her and make everything o.k.
Today He made everything o.k. Although Mom has been wheelchair-bound for several weeks, and bedridden for the past week, today Jesus took her by the hand and led her skipping and dancing into eternity with Him. Now she has no more pain, no more sorrow, no more fear. Now she sees her Lord face to face, and knows fully, just as she has been fully known. Today she is healed, mind and spirit – and someday, body.
She will not return to me, but someday I will go to her.
