The Church is way too timid, because we do not understand who we are because of who Christ is and what He has done. A great deal of this timidity stems from a misunderstanding — or even ignorance — of our standing before God in Christ.
Omnicient: It’s Not Just A Fancy Word
The man who acknowledges that he is now and that he will be hereafter “naked and exposed to the eyes of the One with whom we have to reckon”, and that the discernment of God is always without error and his judgment righteous and equitable, is a man who is standing on the threshold of divine grace.

God gave the Israelites very clear criteria concerning who they should choose for their king, and it really had nothing to do with policy. Policy wasn’t what God looked for in a good ruler. God looked at . . . well, character!
